MyMediaSite provides its own video creation tool Desktop Recorder, which allows you to create screencast videos.

When using the desktop recorder to make screencast videos, there are two components involved:

How to share videos in MyMediaSite?

To share your videos hosted in MyMediaSite, the following three steps are required to be done from your computer:

  • Make your video ‘Viewable’

MyMediaSite by default keeps all videos private, which means only you can view it. To share your videos, navigate to ‘Drafts’ and click on the video you want to share. When the video description pane opens click on the ‘Edit’ tab. Under the ‘Visibility’ dropdown menu, click ‘Viewable’ then click ‘Save’.

  • Add link only access to the video

A video that is made “Viewable” in MyMediaSite are accessible by users when they are logged into MyMediaSite and are given a link to the video. However, your students don’t have access to MyMediaSite by default. You can give them link only access without the need to login, by adding “Anonymous” account with “Viewer” access to the video access list.  This setting is available in the “Security” tab. Click on the “Click here to edit permissions” link to edit the permission.
